Seafood Mains from Wineries

Who loves fine dining?!

The Okanagan is known for its stunning wineries and has some of the top fine dining restaurants so this blog post I will be featuring some of my favourite seafood mains at wineries.

Fine dining adheres to an upscale experience and fabulous food and wine pairings. The ambience at each of these wineries is fantastic and the views are spectacular.

My Favourite Seafood Mains at Wineries

Mission Hill Winery – Terrace Restaurant

okanagan wineries

First off, Mission Hill, at their Terrace Restaurant overlooking Okanagan Lake. Wow! The views from the restaurant are breathtaking. You feel as if you’re in Europe. Their food and wine pairings are also on point.

The seafood main we had was part of their four course meal so it was a smaller plate. The fish was the Halibut in Charred Spring Onion with wild shrimp, bacon braised in aji amarillo & lemongrass. It was paired with their 2020 Reserve Pinot Gris which was fantastic. Presentation wise, it was very elegant with beautiful pops of green. Taste wise, the fish tasted very fresh and the dish had a nice simplistic aspect to it. One critique I had was that I found it a touch under seasoned, but overall it was a beautiful plate!

Quails’ Gate Winery – Old Vines Restaurant

Next up, is an exceptional winery here in Kelowna called Quails’ Gate. We sat outside at Old Vines Restaurant on their gorgeous patio. Quails offers both halibut and salmon as their seafood mains so we ordered one of each. Quails’ Gate also proudly offers Ocean Wise seafood which I make an effort to look for when I’m eating out.

Presentation wise, it wasn’t the most elegant plating that I’m used to but it made up for it in taste! Siobhan got their Line Caught BC Halibut which came with bok choy, ginger, rhubarb, navet, and parsley. I got their Wild Salmon which came with a soy marinade, black rice, snap pea, leek, rice and wine beurre blanc. Taste wise, everything was seasoned nicely and I really enjoyed the soy marinade. You will not be disappointed at Quails’ Gate! The ambience is beautiful.

50th Parallel Winery – Block One Restaurant

Block One Restaurant is located at 50th Parallel Winery! This beautiful winery is nestled away in Lake Country, just outside of Kelowna. Their restaurant also offers both salmon and halibut dishes. My mom ordered the Wild BC Salmon which is hemp-crusted, comes with okonomiyaki, squash laksa, prawn cracker, Saltspring Island mussels, cilantro, and chili oil. She said it was amazing!

I ordered the Pan-Roasted Haida Gwaii Halibut which came with sidestripe shrimp agnolotti, bisque foam, fennel + herb salad, orange, summer squash, lemon saffron cream, and chive oil. The plating and presentation is exactly what you think when you picture winery food. Both were very well balanced dishes and the flavors went together perfectly. If you’re looking for amazing winery food, be sure to check 50th Parallel out!

That wraps up the blog post about seafood mains at wineries!!! So fun. Be sure to check out all these fabulous wineries, we live in wine country ya know 😉
