9 Tips that will Guarantee to Make you Successful

I’m no stranger to feeling down in the dumps. We’ve all felt discouraged at one point or another. Whether in your job, in your relationships, in your personal life, we can all agree it’s not a good feeling.

So how do we find success? How do we achieve our goals?

Well first off, let me tell you that there is no secret sauce. There is no grand thing that will work for everyone. Because life would be far too easy then.

However, coming from a small business owner, I’ve decided to collect the lessons that I’ve learned and share them with you.

Check out my 9 tips that will guarantee to make you successful:

  1. Committing to your goals

This is huge. Everybody has goals and wants to fulfill their goals. But how committed are you to not give up when the going gets tough and stick to them?

Tip: Dedicate at least 1 hour every day to achieving this goal. For me, I have an online business that I want to make into a full-time gig. When I come home from my day job, I have to force myself to put time in for StuffwithSvet before I relax for the evening.

2. Being accountable for your mistakes

We are in a day of age where everybody has become so defensive and doesn’t want to receive criticism. Don’t get me wrong, making mistakes are good. But owning up to a mistake is the other half of it.

Tip: Be honest with yourself and take accountability. Stop being so defensive and admit “I was wrong” and “I’m going to change that for next time”. We are all going to fail at one point or another so the faster we realize this, the faster we can learn from it.

3. “Me” time

Sometimes, we get so caught up in goals or pleasing other people that we burn out. It is so important to take time for yourself and create a healthy work/life balance.

Tip: Dedicate a day where you are away from people and do whatever it is that you need to do to relax. Whether it’s crushing some Netflix, going for a walk, do it! You need that non-disruptive time.

4. Batching

“Batching” in your routines saves time and simplifies your life.

Tip: Set aside a day like Sunday to do all your meal prepping so it’s done for the week. I used to wake up every morning before work and make the meal for that day. Now I do it all on one day so it’s done with and I don’t have to distract myself thinking about it for the rest of the week.

5. Asking for help

This one hits close to home. You can never not be learning something. CEO’s of successful companies go to conferences to update themselves on new skill tactics. Medical professionals constantly take new courses so they’re up to date and certified. I personally am always listening to podcasts, reading articles, or meeting new people so that I can be updating my own personal resume.

Tip: Is there somebody that you look up to in your industry? Take them out for a coffee and ask them questions!

6. Support group

It’s great if you are super passionate about your goals. But if the people around you like your family, your SO, or your friends aren’t…then what good is that to you? You won’t get that far if the people in your life are ripping you down.

Tip: Get rid of the people surrounding you that are negative and toxic. You can’t do this alone, you need people who will uplift you on your journey.

7. Avoid distractions

There are days where you can feel super motivated but you wake up and your roommates are distracting you or your cellphone is lighting up with text messages. Whatever it is that distracts you, take note and get away from it when you are working.

Tip: For me, I always get a ton of work done when I go to a coffee shop. If I need to get hours of work done, being at home with people around distracts the crap out of me and/or slows me down.

8. Ask questions!!!

As simple as this one sounds, it is so important and something I still struggle with to this day. For some reason we are afraid to ask questions or admit we don’t understand something the first time. If you are are unsure or are questioning something, just ask!

Tip: I’ve come to the point in my life where the more questions I ask, the better. Especially when it comes to running my own business. At the end of the day if I’m not understanding something, then it’s me who will get affected by it. Ask.those.questions.

9. Jot down your ideas

You probably read the title of this one and thought why do I need to write them down? A lot of the time, ideas pop into your head at the most random of times. In the middle of the night, when brushing your teeth, when zoned out at your day job. The minute it pops into your head, WRITE IT DOWN. You know why? Cause in a matter of seconds you can talk yourself out of this idea or forget it.

Tip: No matter what I am doing, if I have an idea that has popped into my head, I immediately act on it by writing it down in my note pad on my phone. Depending on the idea, I’ll even act on it right away before I talk myself out of it. You never know how brilliant some of your ideas are until you get the courage to act on it!

There we have it. It’s easy to find excuses or take the easy way of giving up on our goals. But it’s even worse to feel discouraged and unsatisfied in your life. Acknowledge what YOU need to do in order to be successful and then take action and DO IT. I know I am!
