Feb 20th – @thebabeabroad
Today StuffwithSvet is featuring @thebabeabroad on the #whosoutthere series. I had been following Alexis for a while but ran into her for the first time a month ago and she was such a sweet heart! Though she resides in Kelowna, Alexis is a travel blogger and I always love seeing her travel photos and personal style. She also recently came out with a clothing line which I didn’t realize until I interviewed her! Check her out below!
My name is Alexis Toren and The Babe Abroad is my business and my blog. I also recently started my own clothing line called Infatuation the label.
I am active on Instagram, Facebook, Youtube and on my blog TheBabeAbroad.com. I have been blogging on my website for about two and a half years, but I have very recently started my Youtube channel which has been a passion of mine for a while!
I use Instagram to reach and connect with over twenty-five thousand amazing people from all around the world. Instagram gives me the opportunity to connect with other fellow travellers and help other aspiring travellers and bloggers with the knowledge I have.
My favourite Instagram accounts to follow are: @AspynOvard, @AlyssaLynch, and @courtneysteeves.
I follow @JennaSwetlikoff because she is one of the very few influencers out there that are REAL! She tells us her real opinion and she isn’t hiding any part of who she is and it’s very refreshing to follow someone in my local community like that! She also has amazing taste in clothing and with restaurants!!
The Babe Abroad is a travel blog that incorporates fashion and travel inspiration for people all over the world. The goal is to make travelling easier, more fashionable and more desired by all. My clothing line, Infatuation the label, is about empowering women into being infatuated with who they are.
The Babe Abroad stands out from other businesses because people can relate to me from all different realms. I am a second-year university student with a full course load, plus a part time job, plus my business. The people who choose to follow me, follow me because they can relate to my current life situation as a struggling student with a passion. Everyone has a passion that they can turn into a business and I’m here to show them that it’s possible even if your life is packed with other important priorities.
The most important part of my business journey has been learning about balance. I am a full-time university student with a full course load as well as running The Babe Abroad and Infatuation the label. Sometimes it can feel like there isn’t enough hour in a day to get everything done that I want to, but learning how to properly plan my days out every week has allowed me to achieve the right balance in my life between school, my businesses and my social life!
My 5-year goal with The Babe Abroad is to grow into the go-to place where people come to for their travel and fashion advice and inspiration. In 5 years, I will be 24 (yes, that means I’m 19 years old), and I want to have not only travelled, but immerse myself into as many as different cultures as I can and create content that helps my fellow travellers continue to do what we are all passionate about. In order to inspire others, in 5 years I want to be public speaking about how I became able to turn my passion into a business and how anybody else can as well if they put in the work.
I push through the worst times by remembering why I started in the first place. There are times where producing and posting content becomes a lot of work, especially when I have deadlines for brands plus a bunch of exams to study for. So even though things can get overwhelming and I feel like doing nothing, I remember that I love the outcome of what I started, sharing my stories with a bunch of people that have the same passion as I do.
I think a perfect candidate for this series would be a new blogger to Kelowna that I believe needs to be seen and heard. With that being said, I nominate @sincerelycourtney for #WhosOutThere!
Thank you for having me on the #whosoutthere series!!!
