Oct 31st – @kaitlyndickie

Today StuffwithSvet is featuring @kaitlyndickie. Kaitlyn and I actually have a past since we both grew up in Kelowna and played sports together. I wanted to do a spotlight on Kaitlyn because of the sole fact that Kaitlyn is trying to make a difference in her community and the planet itself. Our earth is precious and we don’t want to take its natural beauty for granted. Through her awareness and tips, Kaitlyn strives to be a source for eco-friendly tips.

My name is Kaitlyn, and my business is Kaitlyn Dickie, my name – I wanted to keep it simple! You can connect with me via my website (it’s always being updated with more resources as well as my blog), Instagram, and Facebook.

I follow @jennaswetlioff as I’ve known Jenna for a while now and we went to high school together! I love supporting other locals that are hoping to put Kelowna on the map!

My business is about helping people transition to using cruelty-free products, a plant-based diet, and reducing their waste to help our little planet by providing easy, affordable, and accessible alternatives to the items they use every day.

I started my Instagram on a private account that was just for personal use. When I started posting about some cruelty-free discoveries that I made, I got so many questions so I decided to go public. Now I use Instagram as part of my business. I wish I had an information source for making changes myself. You hear about making changes similar to this all the time but until you find something that clicks with you, you won’t make the change. I know that I won’t change people overnight but if I post about something that is accessible to people then hopefully those changes will happen over time.

My favorite Instagram accounts to follow are @erinireland, @jillianharris, and @sarahs_day.

The most important part of my business journey so far? I definitely don’t consider my Instagram a business juuust yet because I want to make sure what I’m offering is actually serving my followers before I ever try to sell to them. I’m focusing on giving people the tools to help make eco-friendly changes in their lives.

I feel what makes me stand out from other businesses is the fact that I’m different. My Instagram takes people along the journey with me, trying out certain products to see if they work or not, seeing which plant-based alternatives make the cut and function just as well or better than their animal counterparts.

My 5-year goal with my business is that I hope to be the go-to information source for people that are wanting to make changes in their lives for everything plant-based, cruelty-free, and zero-waste! I am working to make my website more of a resource for people than just a vessel for my blog.

How do I push through the worst times? I haven’t had any times that I would consider to be bad but juggling a full-time job and trying to cover all of the topics that people ask me about every day does get challenging. I want to do so many collaborations but I find that I have to turn down a lot of things just because the timing doesn’t work out.

I think that the Okanagan Pet Project should be featured on this series because Kelsey is doing great things in our community and helping save cute puppers!

Thank you for having me on the Who’s Out There? SERIES!!!
