2026 Goal Reset

Feeling stuck after the holidays?

If you’re in a post-holiday slump, you’re not alone. Motivation dips, routines feel off, and “new year goals” can feel more overwhelming than exciting. Instead of forcing a full reset, this is a gentle reminder to refresh!

Curious how I approached last year? Check out my 2025 Life Recap to see what I learned, and how it’s shaping the way I step into 2026.

In this post, I’m sharing simple ways to reset your mindset, move your body, and create goals that actually fit into real, everyday life so 2026 feels intentional, not overwhelming.

Before setting goals, ask:

  • How do I want my days to feel?
  • What energy do I want to carry into 2026?

Clarity starts with feeling, not fixing.

Forget the highlight reel. Describe a realistic, repeatable day:

  • Where do you wake up?
  • How does your body feel?
  • What do you do in the first hour?
  • What do you expect to get done, without rushing?

These details create goals that actually fit your life.

I started journaling last year and it’s been a game-changer! You don’t need long entries, just honesty.

  • What am I feeling?
  • What do I want more of this year?
  • What am I done tolerating?
  • What did I quit that changed everything?
  • What am I grateful for today? (This one is key. Even on hard days, push yourself to find one thing. Something as simple as making a good dinner still counts.)

Five minutes is enough.

Movement should support your energy, not drain it.

  • Walking, stretching, strength, Pilates. Choose what feels sustainable. I joined a run club last year and it’s been so healing! I love the challenge. Between that and the gym, I have really upped my overall movement and it feels amaaazing.
  • Ask: How do I want to move through the world physically?

Small shifts matter:

  • No phone first thing in the morning.
  • Intentional breaks from social media.
  • More reading, journaling, or walking.

Presence is a habit. I personally am really trying to work on being present this year!

Just one.

  • A new movement routine
  • Attending church or reconnecting with faith
  • Prioritizing sleep
  • Cooking nourishing meals
  • Try a new hobby

Simple > perfect.

Check in with your inner circle:

  • Who feels safe?
  • How do you communicate during conflict?
  • What does love feel like in your body: calm, regulated, steady?

This past year, I’ve leaned deeply into my friendships and feel closer to them than ever. I truly couldn’t have gotten through 2025 without them!

Ask yourself:

  • What habits are non-negotiable?
  • What did I stop doing that made life harder?
  • What did I quit that made life lighter?

Progress is often about letting go.

You don’t need the whole year mapped out.
Just ask: What do I want more of?

Again, one of my personal goals this year is to plan less and be more present.

That’s enough to begin!

You don’t have to have it all figured out. Some days will be messy, some days will feel slow, and that’s okay. The little things matter: noticing how your body feels, taking a moment to move, journaling your thoughts, and connecting with the people who genuinely lift you up. Resetting isn’t about doing more, it’s about doing what feels right for you. Take it one real, normal day at a time, and trust that everything else will follow.

Happy New Year!
