Q + A with The Local Gift Card
Meet Sarah, the owner and founder of The Local Gift Card! I had the chance to sit down with her a month ago and learn all about her business. I wanted to share with you – check out our interview below!
Q: What is the Local Gift Card?
A: A single card that can be used at a number of businesses in Kelowna that are locally owned. It’s like purchasing an Orchard Park gift card.
Q: How many businesses are there to choose from?
A: There are over 50 with new ones being added all the time! There is a full list on The Local Gift Card website.
Q: What kinds of businesses are participating?
A: Wineries, restaurants, boutique, clothing, gift shops, activities and more!
Q: Do you have to spend the money in all one place?
A: Absolutely not! One can spend as much as they want at each of the businesses. The gift cards never expire!
Q: How did you start the Local Gift Card?
A: I had my own business in Downtown Kelowna, a retail store. I found myself wishing that there weren’t only gift cards that people could buy from my business, but ALL local businesses. Thus, I came up with the idea! I support community over competition.
So WHY buy from The Local Gift Card? We are connecting locals to local businesses! Right now, The Local Gift Card has a campaign with Valley First where every $10 purchased from the Local Gift Card, Valley First will donate three meals to the food bank. By buying a gift card, you’re giving meals to people in need today!
Thank you Sarah for explaining your wonderful business!
