All the Best Things to Explore in Vancouver B.C.
Kelowna is full of tourists in the summer months so typically we escape to the small towns for a getaway. But we also love to visit the big cities from time to time such as Vancouver, B.C! Vancouver is BC’s largest city with a whopping metro area population of 2.6 million people. Known for its cuisine, landscapes, and diverse culture, it has it all!
What I love about Vancouver is that you don’t have to drive everywhere. Getting around is so easy as Vancouver possesses great public transport! You can walk, bus, or sky train almost anywhere!
Let me share my must do’s with you when exploring Vancouver:
MY MUST DO’S IN VANCOUVER:
Restaurants:
There is so much choice when it comes to eateries in Vancouver. I haven’t been to all of these but some of the top restaurants I would suggest are: Nightingale, Medina, The Flying Pig, Chambar, Ask for Luigi, Vij, Miku, and more. The multitude of restaurants can make it difficult with deciding where to go but this is what makes Vancouver’s food scene so outstanding! Vancouver is also known for their seafood so you definitely have to try some of their sushi or fresh oysters.
Parks + Beaches:
Stanley Park is New York’s Central Park! I love to rent a bike and do the whole seawall loop which takes about an hour or two depending how quick you’re going. Bike rental shops are everywhere so it’s very easy to find rentals or else you can walk if you prefer. Some of Vancouver’s best beaches are Kitsilano, English Bay, Spanish Banks, and Second Beach which is along the seawall in Stanley Park.
Granville Island:
Granville Island is a little peninsula just off of Downtown Vancouver under the Granville Bridge. It has an indoor public market and many eateries and shopping. I love to go brewing hopping to breweries such as Granville Island Brewing, one of Vancouver’s oldest breweries!
Hiking:
What’s great about Vancouver is that it’s surrounded by mountains. Definitely check out Grouse Mountain for the “Grouse Grind” or I love visiting Capilano Suspension Bridges.
Exploring all of Vancouver’s vibrant neighbourhoods:
Vancouver is so diverse! Be sure to check out all the different areas such as Chinatown, Waterfront, Gastown, Kitsilano, Commercial Drive and more. All the different neighbourhoods are so colorful and unique in their own way.
Shopping:
Vancouver is home to may shopping districts. I love window shopping in Downtown Vancouver on Robson Street or browsing Gastown. It is a shopper’s paradise!
Activities:
Vancouver is home to many attractions such as Fly Over Canada, Vancouver Aquarium, Science World, Moon & Back Gallery and more! It’s perfect if you’re travelling with your family and looking for things to do with your kids.
Vancouver has that perfect balance of city life and nature. It’s an exciting city with something always going on! Be sure to save this post for your next visit.
