Must Visit Hot Springs in BC

One of my favourite activities in the Winter and Spring is visiting hot springs! You can go to hot springs any time of the year but I love going when it is a little cooler. It makes it that much more enjoyable when you’re soaking in a warm pool and have the contrast of the crisp air. Hot springs are known for their beneficial properties and are great places to rest, relax, and rejuvenate. Luckily for us in British Columbia, the geography provides the perfect landscape for hot springs.

There are various types of hot springs in BC, ranging from resort-style hot springs to underdeveloped ‘natural’ hot springs.

Here are some of my favourite hot springs in BC

Crazy Creek Resort Hot Pools

Crazy Creek Resort, may not be hot springs, but their hot pools are just as amazing as hot springs I’ve been to! This four-season hot pool resort is open 365 days a year, located just 20 minutes East of Shuswap Lake and 30 minutes West of Revelstoke. They have three pools with temperatures ranging from a toasty 40’C to a refreshing 12’C cold dip, plus a seasonal pool available from May to October. But that’s not all – they offer cozy accommodations, RV sites for those on the go, snowmobiling adventures for thrill-seekers, scenic touring opportunities, hiking trails for outdoor enthusiasts, and fantastic fishing spots for anglers. Check out my reel here.

Halcyon Hot Springs

Halcyon Hot Springs is located near Nakusp and is open 365 days a year. This is one of my all-time favourite hot springs as the pools overlook the stunning view of Upper Arrow Lake and the Monashee Mountains. Plus, you can enjoy their amazing restaurant, Alcedo while taking in the beautiful mountain views and nearby accommodation.

Halfway Hot Springs

Located just outside of Nakusp, Halfway Hot Springs is perfect if you’re adventurous and looking for natural hot springs! It is important to note that in the Winter, these hot springs are not accessible by vehicle as they are located on a logging road. If you want to enjoy them in the Winter, you must snowmobile, walk, cross-country ski, or snowshoe. It is approximately a 1.6 km hike to the hot springs, but they are well worth the adventure.

Nakusp Hot Springs

These hot springs are nestled within the Selkirk Mountains, just outside Nakusp offering a quiet getaway! Elevate your stay by booking one of their cute cabins, near the hot springs and enjoy hiking and biking trails around the area. Plus, fishing, kayaking, and canoeing opportunities on the Kuskanax River and Arrow Lakes.

Ainsworth Hot Springs

Another personal favourite of mine is located between Nelson and Kaslo. These hot springs are different from any hot springs I have been to before as they offer a unique experience as there are caves you can swim through! After soaking in the hot springs, you can also enjoy a cold plunge pool for a little refresh.

Lussier Hot Springs

If you’re looking for hot springs that are a little more remote and natural, this is the place for you. These hot springs are easily accessible by Whiteswan Forestry Road with a short 5-minute walk down to the hot springs on a well-maintained trail. Lussier Hot Springs is 100% free and natural, ranging in temperatures from 34°C to 47°C, with the convenience of the Lussier River right beside the Hot Springs to cool off.

Radium Hot Springs

These hot springs are surrounded by beautiful mountain scenery in Radium, located in the gorgeous Kootenay National Park. While visiting the area, enjoy various outdoor activities such as hiking, fishing, biking, skiing, skating, paddling, golf, and more!

Fairmont Hot Springs

Fairmont Hot Springs are the largest natural mineral hot springs in all of Canada, overlooking the beautiful Canadian mountains. These hot springs are right in the town of Fairmont, unlike most hot springs which reside up in the mountains, making all the amenities easily accessible.

Harrison Hot Springs

Located in the Fraser Valley, this Hot Spring Resort offers an all-inclusive experience. Enjoy the hot pools, a spa, dining and accommodations all in one place. The village of Harrison Hot Springs is a quaint tourist destination that you will want to check out if you’re in the surrounding area.
