Spring Guide to Staying Active in the Okanagan

Spring is my favourite season in Kelowna! The sun is starting to shine, and there are numerous enjoyable ways to stay active in the Okanagan during this time. Whether you’re new to the area, looking to meet new people, or wanting to try a new activity, this guide is for you!

The Okanagan has some of the most beautiful views! Check out some of my favourite hiking trails and get your steps in simultaneously!

  • Knox Mountain- A classic spot in Kelowna, offering a variety of trails to choose from (Paul’s Tomb, Apex Lookout, and more)
  • Pincushion– Stunning panoramic views of Peachland.
  • Crawford Falls– Located in a canyon by East Kelowna with two routes & waterfalls to choose from.
  • Spion Kop– Located in Lake Country, with views of Wood, Duck, and Okanagan Lake!
  • Fintry Falls- Located in West Kelowna: climb stairs to experience beautiful waterfalls, plus a hidden trail for more experienced hikers!

Kelowna and surrounding areas have an amplitude of Biking Trails to choose from! If you’ve been looking to try out a new trail, check out this list for some recommendations!

  • Connector– Black diamond singletrack trail located near Kelowna.
  • Boss Hog– Is a true Gillard classic. Some big features are both natural and wood. It is recommended for Intermediate riders.
  • Wobbly Pops– Has a mix of natural and wooden features. Fun fast and flowy with optional lines.
  • Yo Momma– Starts with a steep plunge straight into consecutive gap jumps and berms. The trail’s second half opens into a fast and rowdy single track.
  • Fists First– Fun, fast, and jumpy trail.

If you’re new to Kelowna or looking to meet and connect with new people, joining a sports league is a great option! Kelowna has many Spring leagues to join. Below, I have listed just a few to choose from!

  • Urban Rec– Urban Rec is about playing a recreational sport while enjoying a night out with friends, co-workers or family. Spring leagues include Basketball, Beach Volleyball, Flag Football, Multi-Sport, Outdoor Soccer, and Slo-Pitch. All levels are welcome!
  • Kelowna Womens Soccer League (KWSL)
  • City of Kelowna– Choose from a large selection of sports: Slo-Pitch, Pickleball, Basketball, Netball, Beach Soccer, Beach Volleyball, Disc Golf, Badminton, & Tennis. All levels are welcome.
  • Kelowna Running Club
  • North End Run Group– A free & inclusive running community
